FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 ‘to leave civilisational legacy’

-

Qatar is continuing to organise an exceptional World Cup tournament which will leave a human and civilisational legacy to the world despite the hateful racist campaigns that try to distort this great success, said President of the High Council of State in Libya, Khaled al-Mashri.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Libya’s president of the High Council of State said they are proud of the amazing organisation of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, whose standard has exceeded all previous tournaments. He stressed this gives confidence that Arabs are capable of organising such global tournaments and international events.

“Qatar has dazzled the world with its organisation of the World Cup, and succeeded in thwarting the racist schemes that try to quench this sparkle, divert the world’s attention from this distinction, and dragged us into a square other than the square of sports, through organised campaigns of distortion and misinformation.”

The World Cup in Qatar will become a milestone in the relationship between peoples and civilisations, and all those that want otherwise will fail, he added.

Al-Mashri underlined that this World Cup will contribute to changing the distorted stereotype of Arabs and Muslims, after visitors to Qatar witness the hospitality and welcoming nature of the residents.

He called on the world to focus on sport and the human legacy it creates.

Qatar and Libya enjoy deep and historical relations, alMashri said praising the position of Qatar in support of the Libyan people and its constant keenness on their security and stability and on achieving their aspirations for peace and development.
