Shura attends virtual meeting of Internet Governance Forum
The Shura Council participates in a two-day parliamentary meeting organised by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) on the subject of ‘Addressing cyberthreats: National, regional and international approaches’ within the events of Internet Governance Forum 2022 convened in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The council is represented by member of the Shura Council Dr Ahmed bin Hamad al-Mohannadi in the meeting that was virtually kicked off yesterday via videoconferencing. The parliamentarians discuss several topics related to cybersecurity, extend of the countries’ preparation to deal with the cyber threats, along with the regulatory and legislative policies and measures that should be set to maximise the level of cybersecurity and counter cyber crimes. In addition, the meeting addresses the importance of co-operation among the stakeholders to establish more secure cyberspace, as well as discuss the challenges and solutions, and share the viewpoints on setting and executing the policies efficiently and effectively.
