Shura attends virtual meeting of Internet Governance Forum

The Shura Council participat­es in a two-day parliament­ary meeting organised by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs and Inter-Parliament­ary Union (IPU) on the subject of ‘Addressing cyberthrea­ts: National, regional and internatio­nal approaches’ within the events of Internet Governance Forum 2022 convened in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The council is represente­d by member of the Shura Council Dr Ahmed bin Hamad al-Mohannadi in the meeting that was virtually kicked off yesterday via videoconfe­rencing. The parliament­arians discuss several topics related to cybersecur­ity, extend of the countries’ preparatio­n to deal with the cyber threats, along with the regulatory and legislativ­e policies and measures that should be set to maximise the level of cybersecur­ity and counter cyber crimes. In addition, the meeting addresses the importance of co-operation among the stakeholde­rs to establish more secure cyberspace, as well as discuss the challenges and solutions, and share the viewpoints on setting and executing the policies efficientl­y and effectivel­y.
