QATAR SET TO GET 5,800 NEW HOMES

In its re­view of Qatar's real es­tate mar­ket for Q1, con­sult­ing firm ValuS­trat said that an es­ti­mated 5,800 new homes are set to en­ter the coun­try's real es­tate mar­ket by the end of 2017. Of these, five build­ings will be part of The Pearl-Qatar project, while 10 build­ings will be in Lu­sail. The re­port added that by the end of 2016, the to­tal hous­ing stock (vil­las, res­i­den­tial houses and apart­ments) was ap­prox­i­mately 281,000 units. An­other 1,500 units, about 17% of which are vil­las and 83% apart­ments, were added to the Qatari mar­ket dur­ing the first quar­ter this year. As far as the prices of res­i­den­tial hous­ing were con­cerned, the ValuS­trat re­port said that com­pared to 2016, the me­dian trans­acted price fell by nearly 12% year-on-year, al­though the vol­ume of trans­ac­tions in­creased by more than 50%.
