‘Pipe-borne water meets international standards’
HEAD of Water Networks Department at Kahramaa Engineer Fahad Yousef Talfat has reaffirmed that the water supply in Qatar meets the highest international standards of hygiene.
Talfat said this during a presentation he delivered at the Central Municipal Council (CMC) on Tuesday, where he explained the plans and strategies to develop and renovate water networks in the country.
He reaffirmed that the water supply is drinkable, stressing that frequent tests are conducted on the water to make sure it is clean and hygienic all the time.
Besides the routine water quality monitoring programmes, Kahramaa, represented by HSE department, verifies water quality through routine sanitary inspection on its water facilities from source till the customer network connection point. These inspections are meant to check and avert any water quality potential health hazard.
Talfat added that Kahramaa shares the responsibility of water quality monitoring with other public and private entities in the State of Qatar such as the Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Environment, and the private water production companies.
Meanwhile, CMC members have recommended building children playgrounds in neighbourhoods by allocating the empty spaces, especially in the densely populated areas, to provide more entertainment facilities for the children. The recommendation stressed that these playgrounds should have all the safety measures and material and should be built according to all safety and comfort standards.
Furthermore, the CMC has asked the Ministry of Municipality and Environment to permit citizens to build double story attachment rooms in their villas without deforming the public scenery and the shape of the buildings.
