QRCS gives relief items, deploys mobile clinics in Northern Syria
Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has responded immediately to the recent wave of mass displacement in the northern governorates of Syria.
QRCS’s field teams distributed food and non-food items to the internally displace persons (IDPs). The distribution of aid has benefited more than 23,800 IDPs, and work is still in progress.
At the same time, mobile medical clinics were deployed by QRCS’s medical professionals to IDP destinations, to provide access to primary healthcare and medications free-of-charge, and refer critical cases to specialised hospitals.
In terms of psychological health, Psychological First Aid (PFA) and socio-psychological
support was provided to children, and psychiatric cases were referred to specialised centers.
Community-health teams responded by testing malnutrition among children ranging
0.5-5 years of age, as well as malnutrition among pregnant women and nursing mothers. It also distributed preventive nutritional materials, and held health risk awareness sessions.
