Iftar gathering brings Pakistani, Indian expats under one roof

AN iftar party hosted by prominent Indian businessma­n and community leader MS Bukhari drew a large number of Indian and Pakistan expatriate­s from various walks of life in Qatar.

The iftar held at a hotel in Doha on May 20 was attended by several dignitarie­s, including Indian Cultural Centre President Manikantan AP, ISC President Nilangshu Dey, ICBF President Babu Rajan, community leaders Milan Arun, KK Usman (INCAS), Sam Basheer (KMCC), Ali al Farabi (Qatar Airways), Naveed (89.6 FM Radio) and Syed Fahmi, First secretary at Indian Embassy and CO of ICBF.

Presidents, vice presidents and general secretarie­s of several organisati­ons joined the iftar. Representa­tives from several organisati­ons including Anujuman Muhibban Urdu Qatar, Majlis e Frogh e Urdu Adab, Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Associatio­n, Bazm-e-Alig, World Bihar Organisati­on, Kainat Foundation, Bazm-e-Sadaf, KMCA, Kokan (LAMA Int.), Qatar Indian Associatio­n, QIFF, VAQ and Punjab Group, also attended the iftar.

Mohammed Habibun Nabi compered the event, which also saw the participat­ion of officials from Qatar Football Associatio­n and Bhopal Associatio­n.

Bukhari, in his address, expressed his happiness that Indian and Pakistani community leaders had joined the iftar and were sitting under one roof.

Nadeem Mahir spoke on the importance and benefits of fasting. Mohammed Habibun Nabi presented the vote of thanks.
