New regulations for schools being finalised: Minister

-

THE Ministry of Education and Higher Education has prepared new regulations for schools which are in the final stage of the legislative process, Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Mohammed bin Abdulwahed al Hammadi said on Thursday.

The new regulations will address several of the current articles that were introduced during the launch of independent schools, focusing this year on serving school employees and teachers, the minister said during his meeting with teachers of Umm Salal Mohammed Model Independent School for Boys.

The minister and the teachers exchanged views on the different issues related to the educational process.

Hammadi stressed the importance of adhering to the directives of the ministry in order to avoid increasing the amount of written reports and adding burden on teachers in general, noting that reports that do not provide real benefits should be disregarded to focus on the academic side. The minister also discussed the importance of facilitating cooperation and the relationship between school administration and teachers.

On the remarks of teachers on school curriculums, the minister stressed that the ministry will make use of that feedback to improve the curriculums in the future. He also highlighted that the assistant teacher jobs will only be cancelled for the second grade, with the ministry using them to plug the demand for assistant teachers at other levels such as early education and first grade.

Hammadi also said that all remarks made during the meeting will be discussed further with the ministry’s experts to get their points of view.
