McDonald’s brings various nationalit­ies together for Garangao

MCDONALD’S Qatar recently celebrated an enchanted Garangao event, an age-old annual Qatari tradition on the night of mid-Ramadan, with many children of various nationalit­ies and their families the delightful event at McDonald’s Town Center branch.

The atmosphere was amplified with the loud cheers and singing of Garangao songs by the children as they walked collecting goody bags filled with candies prepared by the LSM. Different McDonald’s branches, including Airport, Markiya, Tebah, Umm Salal, Wakra, City Center, Al Meera-Qutaifiya Dafna, Rayyan 2, Woqod and Abu Hamor also hosted a funfilled Garagao festival.

The restaurant­s were packed with children and their parents. Selected kids dressed in best traditiona­l and colourful Garangao attires were awarded with special gifts items.

Ghada Kamal, marketing manager of McDonald’s Qatar, said: “Garangao celebratio­n allows us to spread happiness among the young members of the Qatari community. It is a tradition that is deeplyroot­ed in Arabic culture that is designed to teach children the art of giving and sharing.

“We, at McDonald’s, always provide a range of initiative­s designed to foster social engagement and inspire people to learn more about Qatar culture. By participat­ing in this traditiona­l celebratio­n, we are perpetuati­ng our message of kindness, sincerity and the importance of being associated with the local community.”

In addition to the entertainm­ent and arrays of activities arranged at selected restaurant­s, the grand appearance of birdie character wishing the kids and families a joyful Ramadan enliven the celebratio­n.
