Vodafone launches campaign to guide parents on online safety

After passing all four levels, the player becomes an AmanTECH Hero and is awarded with an AmanTECH e-certificat­e.

The AmanTECH AR game app is suitable for children aged seven to 13 years old and can be downloaded on tablets or smartphone­s from the Apple store and Google Play store.

As part of the company’s efforts to engage the community, odafone has taken its AmanTECH AR game to a number of malls and public events, and several AmanTECH school workshops have been held this year.

Earlier this month, a series of interactiv­e activities was presented at the Digital outh Festival (Tumuha Tec), held on the sidelines of the Qatar Informatio­n Technology Conference Exhibition 2019 (QITCOM).

Recently, odafone Qatar revealed the results of its research following 20 online safety workshops at primary schools. Issues brought to the fore included excessive time spent by children online (up to eight hours) and the communicat­ion between parents and children about screen time.

The findings highlighte­d the need for a wider and more open conversati­on about screen use and some of the risks involved.

AmanTECH, which stands for a safe tech world’, aims to promote digital literacy amongst parents and improve the online safety of children aged five to 17 by raising awareness, providing education and technical support.

Online resources available to parents include a digital parenting guide and several free-to-download odafone AmanTECH How to ’ guides with ideas on how to help children navigate the online world safely.

ODAFONE Qatar’s award-winning digital safety programme, AmanTECH, has launched a campaign to empower parents with the tools to manage the risks faced by children on the internet and ensure their digital wellbeing.

The campaign falls in line with a continuous programme of digital safety activities that odafone Qatar has delivered since AmanTECH’s launch in 2014, which to date has engaged more than 50,000 children, parents and teachers.

Its new launched Augmented Reality (AR) game app helps children learn online safety through four interactiv­e fun activities.

The activities promote userfriend­ly do’s and don’ts and pointers on creating a strong password, preventing cyber bullying, identifyin­g fake messages and protecting personal informatio­n on the internet,
