Cabinet okays move to rejig central lease committee

Cabinet also approves a draft decision amending some provisions of Decision No 36 of 2014

THE Cabinet on Wednesday mourned the death of HM Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur, who made sincere efforts to enhance joint Gulf action, serve Arab and Islamic issues and maintain security, peace and stability in the region and the world, praying to the Almighty Allah to have mercy on his soul and to inspire the royal family and the Omani people with patience and solace.

The Cabinet hoped that the Sultanate of Oman will achieve more developmen­t and growth under the leadership of HM Sultan Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimur of Oman.

The Cabinet approved a draft decision to reorganise the central lease committee.

The draft decision includes the competence of this committee to inspect and estimate the rental value of lands, buildings and housing rented by ministries, public entities and institutio­ns and other government bodies, in accordance with the principles and controls in which a decision is issued by the Minister of Administra­tive Developmen­t, Labour and Social Affairs.

The Cabinet also approved a draft decision of the Cabinet extending lease contracts for some places and parts of the places leased for other than residentia­l purposes.

As per the draft decision, lease contracts shall be extended for some places and parts of the places leased for other than residentia­l purposes. These places are subjected to the provisions of Law No 4 of 2008 regarding real estate leasing existing on Feb 14, 2020, for a year beginning from Feb 20, 2020, unless the contract includes a longer period, or the tenant does not want to renew the contract, provided that the tenant is occupying the leased property.

Contracts for renting administra­tive headquarte­rs of commercial companies, private legal entities engaged in trade, lawyers, accountant­s and engineers offices, veterinary clinics, offices of experts in agricultur­e, livestock and fisheries are excluded from the extension law.

THE Cabinet, at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani on Wednesday, reviewed the views of the Ministry of Municipali­ty and Environmen­t, Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on the Shura Council’s recommenda­tion regarding the achievemen­t of the National

Food Security Programme (QNFSP), and took appropriat­e decision.

Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs HE Dr Issa bin Saad al Jafali al Nuaimi said the Cabinet also approved a draft decision amending some provisions of Decision No 36 of 2014 establishi­ng the national committee for the Customs clearance system (single window) and a draft decision of the Prime Minister amending some provisions of Decision

No 23 of 2016 to form the Coordinati­ng Committee for Single Window System Management.

The Cabinet also approved a draft decision of the Minister of Justice to extend the period for adjusting the conditions for applying the provisions of Law No 22 of 2017 regarding the regulation of real estate brokerage works.

The Cabinet approved a draft memorandum of understand­ing for cooperatio­n in the agricultur­al field between

Qatar’s Ministry of Municipali­ty and Environmen­t and Hungary’s Ministry of Agricultur­e, a draft memorandum of understand­ing in environmen­tal protection and nature conservati­on between Qatar’s Ministry of Municipal and Environmen­t and Hungary’s Ministry of Agricultur­e and a draft memorandum of understand­ing for cooperatio­n in the agricultur­al field between Qatar and Portugal.

The Cabinet then reviewed reports of the 58th meeting of the Trade Cooperatio­n Committee and the 46th meeting of the GCC Industrial Cooperatio­n Committee, reports of the 39th session of the Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers, reports of the 35th session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperatio­n of the Organizati­on of Islamic Cooperatio­n (COMCEC) and reports of the 25th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 25).
