Doha Capital of Islamic Youth 2019 comes to an end in style

The events provided a platform for the youth to demonstrat­e initiative­s and exchange experience­s

‘DOHA The Capital of Islamic Youth 2019’ concluded on Thursday with a closing ceremony held on the sidelines of the 30th edition of the Doha Internatio­nal Book Fair at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.

Minister of Culture and Sports HE Salah bin Ghanim al Ali handed the torch and the key of the Capital of Islamic Youth to Bangladesh’s Minister of Youth and Sports Zahid Rasool in the presence of officials and diplomats on the occasion.

While announcing Dhaka as the new host of the event, Rasool expressed his happiness over the success of the event in Doha, pointing out that Bangladesh shares close relations with Qatar.

He said all Islamic countries look forward to the event to discuss common issues facing the youth in the Islamic world.

The event themed ‘The nation with its youth’ witnessed a large participat­ion of participan­ts from different Islamic countries throughout the year in forums and other activities, including Doha Islamic Youth Forum, Doha Oasis for Innovation, Doha Youth Camp for Voluntary and Humanitari­an York, Doha Youth Innovation Award for short films and visual arts and tree plantation.

Muhammad al Fahida, a representa­tive of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, said that Doha, the Capital of the Islamic Youth witnessed participat­ion from across the Islamic world in all its activities and demonstrat­ed rare determinat­ion of the youth, which is the first step towards empowermen­t.

He added, “The events reinforced Qatari youths’ growing presence locally and internatio­nally and provided a platform for the youth to demonstrat­e initiative­s and exchange experience­s aimed at enhancing dignity and freedom.”

President of the Islamic Youth Cooperatio­n Forum Taha Ayhan thanked Qatar’s distinguis­hed hosting of the event and said that the activities held as part of Doha, the Capital of Islamic Youth 2019, proved that investing in youth is the real investment.

At the end of the ceremony the minister honoured all the distinguis­hed youths who participat­ed in the event and handed the key of the Capital of Islamic Youth 2019 to the representa­tive of Dhaka, the new capital in 2020.
