ECGC joins global golf initiative to foster healthy living among women The single-day event aims to encourage females to try golf for the first time

THE Education City Golf Club (ECGC) is taking part in a global event that encourages women and girls to try golf for the first time, while experienced lady golfers can play and engage with women interested in the sport.

Women’s Golf Day (WGD) is a single-day event scheduled to introduce new female participants to golf and celebrate existing players by joining them together irrespective of race, religion, language, ethnicity or location. WGD has become a global movement and celebrates women and girls learning golf skills that last a lifetime and being part of a larger global community.

“We decided to be a part of this global event because we are promoting healthy and sporty lifestyle among women and girls in Qatar. Golf is an excellent sport for losing weight and keeping fit. Golf supports mental health and helps fight depression, and it is great to maintain mental focus as we ag,”. stated Gordana Popovic Vincic, lady golfer and Sales and Marketing manager at the ECGC.

The WGD this year features a virtual golf day on June 2 where Education City will broadcast an online discussion with Catriona Mathew, Solheim Cup Captain 2019 2021, and Michael Braidwood, general manager of ECGC. The online discussion will be partnering with In the Game and discussing relevant topics about women’s golf and health featuring female golfers in Qatar.

One of ECGC’s missions is to grow the game of golf, and the female sector is one of the most untapped. The club is well equipped to introduce people to the game of golf with expansive training facilities which offer a step by step pathway into the game of golf. The friendly club is proud of its relaxed and welcoming culture and its motto that anyone can try golf.

The women in golf charter was launched the R A last year to encourage golfing governing bodies and clubs to pledge to support this important initiative. This aligns directly with the ECGC’s mission and will really help drive participation.

The second part of the WGD will be a physical golf event in September designed to engage lady golfer and potential lady golfers at the course.

“Women’s Golf Day is a unique one-day sporting and community celebration event that unites women through golf across the globe for 24 hours straight transcending race, religion, language and geography, and the Education City Golf Club can’t wait to be part of it,” said a press statement from the ECGC.
