Qatar-Turkey relations exceptional: Qatari ambassador
AMBASSADOR of Qatar to Turkey HE Salem bin Mubarak Al Shafi has said that Qatar-Turkey relations are distinct and governed by a moral reference.
He said the relations have gone through many challenges before reaching the stage of strategic and comprehensive partnership.
In his statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Ambassador Shafi said the relationship was strengthened by the great convergence at the level of leaders and the people, the unlimited solidarity in times of crises, the harmonious political visions on many issues, as well as sincere and continuous efforts made by the two sides to preserve the relations.
He said, “The official visit of the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Turkey on Thursday to chair the sixth meeting of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will add great momentum to the bilateral relations and lead to exploring new horizons.”
“This visit gives the Supreme Strategic Committee’s meetings a regular and permanent character. It will also contribute to strengthening the bonds of strategic partnership and exceptional relations between the two countries,” he added.
On the importance of the timing of the visit, Ambassador Shafi said that the visit comes at a time when the world is suffering from severe polarisation and challenges, in addition to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and the negative effects that this has left, stressing that the visit reflects the firmness of the two countries’ relationship in a turbulent world in which alliances change all the time.
“Turkish companies have won huge contracts to implement infrastructure projects for the FIFA World Cup in 2022, while many Turkish and Qatari firms have active investments in the real estate, contracting, tourism, manufacturing and media sectors, in addition to projects financed by joint capital between the two sides,” he added.
The envoy said the visit will have a great impact on consolidating and stabilising the gains that have been achieved, organising the various aspects of cooperation, developing legal and implementation frameworks for it, finding other prospects for cooperation and providing more beneficial measures.
