Qatar, Nepal share excellent relations: Qatari envoy
AMBASSADOR of Qatar to Nepal HE Yousuf Mohamed Al Hail has stressed the distinctive bilateral relations between Qatar and Nepal, describing them as excellent.
In an interview with Nepal Press, the ambassador pointed out that there is close coordination between the two countries in international forums. The agriculture and food security agreement between the two countries has contributed to improving bilateral trade, he said.
He pointed to the memoranda of understanding between the two countries in various fields such as the security sector, exemption of visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports, avoidance of double taxation, football, and chambers of commerce.
Qatar is looking forward to more bilateral agreements, he said, noting the existence of an understanding between the two countries to update the agreement for the employment of Nepalese workforce, and the existence of a joint committee of the ministries of labour in the two countries. He also pointed to Qatar’s amendments to its labour law, cancellation of the sponsorship system and implementation of the minimum wage system.
The ambassador indicated that Qatar’s preparations for hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup are progressing as planned, expressing optimism that the COVID-19 pandemic will not have an impact on the tournament, and that the current medical and scientific efforts in terms of vaccines, medicines and people’s awareness will have a positive impact.
Hail stressed the importance of exchange of highlevel visits in strengthening relations between the two countries and peoples.
On the blockade of Qatar, he said Qatar has always encouraged dialogue between the brotherly Gulf states.
He stressed that relations between the Gulf states are of great importance to Qatar, adding, Qatar belongs to the region and the peoples of the six countries are a large family, so cooperation relations and open borders are very important.
