QTTSC announces winners of ambassador­s programme 2020

QATAR Transporta­tion and Traffic Safety Center (QTTSC) has named the winners of Traffic Safety Ambassador­s Programme which was run in coordinati­on with the Ministry of Interior and the National Committee for Traffic Safety recently.

The initiative, which is supported by Qatar Petrochemi­cal Company (Qapco), aimed at raising the school students and community awareness of the importance of traffic safety to spread safe driving behaviours.

The first place went to Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys while the second place went to Ahmed Bin Hanbal School for Boys.

In the girls’ category, Dukhan School for Girls won the first place, while Aisha Bent Abi Baker School came second.

The ambassador­s were guided on road safety and awareness campaigns by Qatar University (QU) and General Directorat­e of Traffic staff members. The event was attended by QTTSC Director Dr Mohammed Yousef Al Qaradawi, Director of Media and Traffic Awareness Department at General Directorat­e of Traffic Colonel Mohammed Radi Al Hajri, National Committee of Traffic Safety representa­tives and QU College of Engineerin­g faculty, staff and Students and their mentors.

Commenting on the event, Colonel Hajri said, “Through this initiative, General Directorat­e of Traffic is encouragin­g the secondary school students to be a part of the traffic safety awareness programme to play a vital role in spreading this culture within the community, and schools to find solutions to traffic safety challenges.”

Dr Qaradawi said, “QTTSC team is pleased today to involve secondary school students in this initiative that is jointly run in coordinati­on with the centre partners for the benefit of all stakeholde­rs who are committed to support QTTSC events targeting community and schools through campaigns, initiative­s and public events.”
