Daily COVID cases drop below 300

THE new daily COVID-19 infections continued to decrease in the country with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Thursday recording 299 cases — 176 from community and 123 from travellers returning from abroad.

Also, 752 people recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries in Qatar to 205,160.

Three people aged 45, 54 and 57, all of whom were chronicall­y ill, succumbed to the virus.

As per the National COVID-19 Vaccinatio­n Programme, a total of 1,944,628 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administer­ed since the start of the programme, the MoPH said.

As many as 32,965 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administer­ed in the past 24 hours.

“About 51.2 percent of the eligible population have now received at least one dose of the vaccine. About 88.2 percent of people over 60 — the most vulnerable population group — have been vaccinated with at least one dose, while 82 percent have received both the doses,” the MoPH added.
