‘Better understanding between parents and children can help to reduce stress’
THE Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) recently hosted the third talk in the series of online talk shows planned to be conducted through the ICC Student’s Forum. The event was titled, ‘Perfection is Child’s Nightmare, Appreciation is the Best Remedy’.
The keynote speaker, renowned academician and Principal of MES Indian School Hameeda Kadar, stressed the need for developing an understanding between parents and children to reduce stress and improve mutual communication. She pointed out that parents should have realistic expectations from their children and encourage and appreciate them appropriately.
She answered the queries raised by the participating students and cleared their doubts with her vast knowledge and experience. The informative session was highly appreciated by all.
ICC President P N Babu Rajan, in his speech, highlighted the need to look into the problems faced by children due to the perfectionist nature of the parents and their high expectations. He appreciated the MES principal for answering queries on this very important topic. He also praised students for coming forward to clear their doubts with renowned academicians.
The event was hosted by Kamla Thakur, head of Activity Coordination Education at the ICC, and was conducted by Shweta Koshti, head of Cultural Activities.
Mohammed ayan from the MES Indian School welcomed the guest and attendees, while J P Sujithra of Bhavan’s Public School proposed the vote of thanks.
As many as 17 students put forward their questions which were answered satisfactorily by the guest speaker.
ICC Vice President Subramanya Hebbagelu and ICC Committee members took active roles in successfully conducting the event, which was attended by students of various Indian schools, their parents and other prominent members of the Indian community.
