Senegal’s envoy hails QRCS efforts at local, regional and global levels
Says the humanitarian services of QRCS in Sub-Saharan Africa give hope to those in need
SECRETARY-GENERAL of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) Ali bin Hassan Al-Hammadi met on Wednesday with Ambassador of Senegal to Qatar HE Dr Mouhamed Habibou Diallo and First Counsellor at the Embassy of Senegal in Doha El Hadj Magatte Ndaw.
The meeting was attended by Faisal Mohamed Al-Emadi, executive director of Relief and International Development Division, and Dr Fawzi Oussedik, head of International Relations and International Humanitarian Law at QRCS.
During the meeting, Dr Diallo highlighted the good relations between Qatar and his country. He commended the outstanding efforts of QRCS at the local, regional and global levels. “The humanitarian services and development operations conducted by QRCS for Senegal and neighbouring countries are a beacon of hope for those in need,” he said.
Dr Diallo communicated a message from the Senegalese Red Cross Society welcoming broader bilateral cooperation with QRCS. He offered full personal support to facilitate any relief, development, or humanitarian projects in Senegal or West Africa.
Al-Hammadi valued this constructive diplomatic move by the ambassador, as a further push to humanitarian relations between the two National Societies. He emphasised the importance of such meetings in strengthening ties in the field of humanitarian action.
The secretary-general of QRCS approved of the suggestion to work closer with the Senegalese Red Cross Society, under the umbrella of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
He promised to give priority to this matter and consider potential joint humanitarian and development projects, as QRCS was paying greater attention to the humanitarian causes and needs of the African communities affected by war.
