Sudanese officials attend start-of-school-year event at Tayba Education City

Qatar Charity opened the largest education facility of its kind in the country in June 2021

AS a gesture that re ects the interest of the Sudanese Ministry of Education in the Tayba Education City, which was establishe­d by Qatar Charity in Sudan, a number of the ministry’s officials, educators, and hundreds of students from Tayba schools participat­ed in the first morning assembly at the beginning of the new academic year.

Babiker Bakheet, director of the General Administra­tion of Secondary Education at the Ministry of Education, rang the start bell in a positive atmosphere stimulatin­g excellent academic performanc­e and creativity.

Addressing the students, Babiker praised the support of the Qatari people and Qatar Charity’s efforts in Sudan, thanking them for establishi­ng the Tayba Education City.

“We will spare no effort in serving this institutio­n because its students are the focus of our attention, so we have provided them with the best teachers,” Babiker said.

He also commended the great services provided by the Tayba Education City to orphan children and the surroundin­g community, and urged the students to be diligent, hoping for an outstandin­g academic performanc­e that befits Tayba schools.

Dr Mona Al Faki, director of Organisati­ons at the Ministry of Education in Khartoum State, said that a supportive educationa­l environmen­t was provided in the city of Tayba.

She said, “Ringing the start bell by the ministry’s officials means that we have started a school year free of challenges.”

Engineer Hassan Odeh, director of Qatar Charity’s Sudan office, pledged to harness all potentials, energies and efforts to provide an appropriat­e educationa­l environmen­t for Tayba’s students, calling for further cooperatio­n and integratio­n to build distinctiv­e leadership­s and competenci­es, who will lead their communitie­s.

The principals of schools at the Tayba Educationa­l City announced their readiness to make the new school year successful, as they benefited from the first operationa­l experience during the past year.

Many students expressed their happiness at joining Tayba schools, stressing that they would do their utmost to achieve impressive results, taking advantage of the good educationa­l environmen­t provided to them.

In Sudan, Qatar Charity opened the Tayba Education City, which is the largest of its kind, in June this year. The 9,000sqm Taiba Education City is a model project of Qatar Charity in the country and consists of several facilities, such as a foundation school, a secondary school, a laboratory, a library and a computer lab, offices and a health centre that provides medical services for students and poor residents from surroundin­g villages.

The city also has various administra­tive facilities, dining and activity halls, sports facilities and a dormitory for 500 orphans.
