29 free shops for productive families at The Pearl-Qatar

Community Markets project nears completion: MADLSA

THE Ministry of Administra­tive Developmen­t, Labor and Social Affairs (MADLSA) has announced the provision of shops for productive families at the “Community Markets” project in The Pearl.

The ministry announced the near completion of the project that serves productive families “home-based business” in The Pearl City. The project is being implemente­d in partnershi­p with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and the United Developmen­t Company.

The “Community Markets” project aims to provide free multiple outlets for productive families. It includes 29 shops for selling sweets, traditiona­l foods, traditiona­l clothes, abayas, perfumes, and restaurant­s. In addition, the project includes a social developmen­t center to train productive families on handicraft­s and on the best practices to enable and encourage them to establish their own companies, thus contributi­ng to enhancing the economic and social developmen­t and prosperity of Qatar.

Selecting the beneficiar­ies of the project will be through a lottery, which will be attended by representa­tives from the Ministry of Administra­tive Developmen­t, Labor and Social Affairs, the Endowments Department of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the United Developmen­t Company.

The ministry will reveal all project details, registrati­on and selection mechanism, as well as controls for the use of the designated stores in the coming weeks.

Through this project, MADLSA seeks to develop an integrated system of services and support to promote the economic activities carried out by productive families, through community markets that serve as an incubator to support home-based businesses.
