241 new buildings completed in Sept, permits for 348 more issued
ACTIVITY in Qatar’s key villa construction remained strong in September. Almost 2 percent of the permits issued in September for new residential buildings are for villa construction, suggesting a solid construction growth outlook in the residential building sector.According to the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA), municipalities in Qatar issued 3 building permits in September. Nearly 4 percent (348) of them are for new buildings, including both residential and non-residential structures. Almost 49 percent (3 0) of them are for extensions or additions and the remaining 4 percent (28) for fencing purposes.
Of the residential permits, those for “dwellings of housing loans permits” accounted for 21 percent (58) and apartments accounted for percent (1 ). As many as 202 permits ( 2 percent) were issued for villa construction.
The PSA report also shows pronounced activity in the construction of commercial buildings. Of the permits issued for building non-residential structures in September,
1 percent (42) were for commercial buildings. It is followed by permits for state and industrial buildings such as workshops and factories with 22 percent (15). Other nonresidential building permits accounted for percent (five) of the total.
In September, Al Da’ayen municipality issued the highest number of building permits 1 2 permits or 23 percent of the total. It is followed by Doha with 130 permits or 18 percent, Al Wakra with 123 permits or 1 percent, mm Slal with 54 permits or 1 percent, Al Khor with 34 permits or 5 percent, Al Shehaniya with 29 permits or 4 percent and Al Shammal with 24 permits or 3 percent.
The total number of building permits issued in September saw an 18 percent increase from that in August.
The last month also saw the execution of 350 building permits 241 new buildings and 109 additions. Of the new buildings, 202 are for residential units and 39 non-residential facilities.
By analyzing new residential buildings permits data, PSA finds that villas’ top the list, accounting for 2 (202 permits) of all new residential buildings permits, followed by dwellings of housing loans permits by 21 (58 permits) and apartments buildings by (1 permits).
On the other hand, commercial buildings were found to be in the forefront of nonresidential buildings permits with 1 (42 permits), followed by industrial buildings e.g., workshops and factories with 22 (15 permits) , then others of non-residential buildings with (5 certificates).
The total number of building completion certificates issued in September saw an 18 percent increase from that in August.
