Security agencies to conduct elaborate World Cup drill
QATAR will conduct an elaborate World Cup drill that will draw participation from a cross-section of military, security and civil services next month to assess their emergency preparedness and interagency coordination.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Ministry of Interior said the exercise, “Watan” will be held between November 15 and 17, 2021. It will incorporate various agencies, including friendly forces from overseas, concerned with hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 20221.
The drill will be carried out under the auspices of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, who is also the head of the Security Committee of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 20221.
The exercise aims at enhancing the role of the authorities concerned while executing their regular missions and additional tasks during the World Cup to assess the responsiveness in emergencies and enact the mechanisms of command, control and cooperation between military and civil agencies to achieve integration of their roles while accomplishing the missions.
The exercise is considered as one of the biggest events in terms of the number of participating authorities from Qatar and abroad, and its integration among security, military, organizational and service authorities and various scenarios based on all types of expected internal and external risks while hosting World Cup.
Experts and specialists of different fields participating in the exercise hold the exercise after conducting studies.
