MES Indian School holds awareness seminar on welfare schemes for NRIs
AS a part of the International Labour Day, the MES Indian School conducted an awareness seminar for staff on April 30 on the topic
Welfare Schemes for Non-Resident Indians’, in the Conference Hall of the school.
Rauf Kondotty, a prominent expat social worker, was the speaker and resource person of the day. He explained to the audience the various existing schemes including the pension scheme offered by the Union and state governments of India for the benefit of the people. He urged all non-residents of India to join such schemes to ensure a hassle-free expatriate life as well as the life beyond retirement.
All such government schemes, he explained, come at nominal or affordable fees and hence lowincome groups can also benefit from them. He lamented that a very small section of the expatriate community takes interest in getting acquainted with the facilities offered. “It is the duty of the Indian community to share the information and people should have the knowledge about these lifechanging schemes which are highly beneficial both for the individual and for the family in the long run,” he added. He also stressed the importance of enrolling for Non-Resident Keralites Affairs NORKA membership and their employment cell, training programmes etc. offered to Keralites.
Hameeda Kadar Principal, in her speech, thanked the presenter for a session replete with key information and said that the session had proved to be an eye-opener in more than ways than one as the employees got valuable information about the schemes initiated by the Indian government. She recommended the staff to become the members of such welfare schemes so as to avail the benefits rightfully.
Mohammed Rashid, Head of Admin facilities coordinated the event and Baby Shana, Head of Academic Inspection delivered a vote of thanks for the session.
