Ministry of Environment announces May 14 as end of winter camping season
THE Ministry of Environment and Climate Change on Monday announced the end of the winter camping season for the year 2021-2022, giving campers until May 14 to remove the camps, providing opportunity for those wishing to continue this activity during this period on the occasion of the blessed Eid Al-Fitr holiday.
Director of the Public Relations Department at the ministry Farhoud Hadi Al Hajri noted the success of this year’s camping season, praising the cooperation of camp owners and their commitment to the requirements and instructions for preserving the land and marine environment during the season.
The camp lasted for six months this year.
Hajri also lauded the cooperation of various ministries and institutions in the country regarding procedures and special requirements to maintain security, safety and public health for all camps.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Hajri affirmed the keenness of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to develop and modernise the winter camping season in the coming years in order to achieve its vision and mission.
From this perspective, he said, the ministry will release a questionnaire on its website this year, with the aim of polling the campers’ opinion about the camping season before the process of retrieving the insurance amount, as well as conducting a brief preliminary study with Qatar University on the impact and evaluation of camps on the environment from the social and environmental standpoints during the camping season.
He called on all campers to dismantle and remove all camps within the set deadline at the end of May 14, 2022, stressing that after this date specialised environmental teams will carry out inspections, follow-up and take legal measures against any violations.
