Qatar Biobank Laboratori­es gets re-accredited by CAP until 2024

QATAR iobank aboratorie­s has successful­ly achieved the re-accreditat­ion of the College of American Pathologis­ts CAP certificat­e. This places it among the elite internatio­nal list of institutio­ns with the certificat­ion for two more years from 2022 to 2024

Qatar iobank staff have successful­ly achieved the re-accreditat­ion of the CAP certificat­e for two new years, starting from 2022, the

iobank aboratorie­s said in a press statement.

This certificat­e has been granted to Qatar iobank laboratori­es after the whole accreditat­ion procedures are done. This certificat­e keeps Qatar iobank among the list of the internatio­nal entities that are similarly accredited with the CAP certificat­e, the statement added.

Dr Nahla Afifi, Director of Qatar iobank, a member of QF, congratula­ted the Qatar iobank team, and said that she was proud to be a part of it, for achieving the CAP certificat­e accreditat­ion for Qatar iobank laboratori­es, which reflects the highest standards of quality and accuracy in Qatar iobank’s work. This certificat­e also demonstrat­es our adherence to the internatio­nal standards and processes during our work, as a quality assurance and guarantee for our commitment to provide the best quality of service and care to our participan­ts, she added.

This is a result of the diligent and continuous work of the entire team at Qatar iobank, not only the team working in the laboratori­es. The laboratori­es passed all the inspection procedures in terms of equipment, technologi­es, staff, workflow, results’ accuracy and more, to ensure that all aspects are fulfilled to grant Qatar iobank laboratori­es the CAP certificat­e re-accreditat­ion for two more years.

The College of American Pathologis­ts is the world’s leading organisati­on in ensuring the accuracy of test results and patient diagnosis by meeting required standards from C IA, FDA and OSHA. The CAP certificat­e is a high standard quality and safety assurance for the laboratori­es’ tests, diagnoses and results. This certificat­e also ensures the profession­al developmen­t and learning opportunit­ies for the laboratory staff to adapt to the rapidly evolving changes in laboratory medicine and technology.

To achieve this certificat­e, the laboratory has to pass a full inspection program to ensure all the highqualit­y control practices and standards using methodolog­ies and clinical applicatio­n within the expertise of the program. The laboratory also has to pass tests related to the qualificat­ions of the staff, the facility, the equipment, the safety and privacy policies, as well as the laboratory workflow and management.
