Minister of Municipali­ty reviews Qatar, US relations; meets Charleston mayor

MINISTER of Municipali­ty HE Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie reviewed opportunit­ies and areas of cooperatio­n and major joint investment­s between Qatar and the US on the occasion of the celebratio­n of 50th anniversar­y of the establishm­ent of QatarUS diplomatic relations.

The minister delivered a speech during a reception hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in coordinati­on with the US-Qatar Business Council, in the presence of a number of CEOs of American companies from various sectors in the US during his visit to the US capital, Washington.

In his speech, Dr Subaie addressed the important achievemen­ts of Qatar in a number of areas, notably food security, agricultur­e, infrastruc­ture and urban planning.

He also touched on the comprehens­ive urban and developmen­t renaissanc­e that Qatar is witnessing in the field of infrastruc­ture, transporta­tion and railways to achieve sustainabl­e developmen­t and in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The Minister of Municipali­ty also met with Mayor of Charleston in South Carolina John Tecklenbur­g as part of his visit to the United States.

The meeting reviewed bilateral cooperatio­n, in the framework of the declaratio­n of intent signed between Doha and Charleston in 2018, which helped enhance ties between the two cities.

The minister said that Doha is looking forward to enhancing bilateral cooperatio­n in the future.

He stressed that the past 50 years have seen ties between Qatar and the United States prosper, which reflected positively on the two peoples, expressing his confidence that the relations will continue to grow in the coming years.

The meeting was attended by a number of officials and CEOs of US companies based in South Carolina.
