Al Faisal Holding ties up with Turkey’s Doludizgin to launch film production firm Metaserra in Qatar

I a bid to tap the growing media sector in Qatar and around the world, Al Faisal Holding, one of Qatar’s largest diversifie­d groups of companies, on Sunday announced the launch of its new subsidiary Metaserra in partnershi­p with Turkey’s Doludizgin.

A joint venture of Al Faisal Holding and Doludizgin, Metaserra will offer production services to the cinema, television, and digital platforms, as well as for films, series, commercial­s, and documentar­ies in multiple languages.

These services will cover several areas including screenplay and scriptwrit­ing, set design, visual and special effects, production design, and music and soundtrack­s. Metaserra will also organise exhibition­s, conference­s, workshops, academic courses, festivals, and competitio­ns related to cinematogr­aphy and the general production and distributi­on of film and TV.

In addition, further expertise will be offered on the commercial aspects of the industry, including the developmen­t and leasing of studios as well as the buying, selling and renting of equipment central to the production processes.

The new company was launched in the presence of Al Faisal Holding Chairman Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani and officials from the Turkish Embassy in Qatar.

Speaking on the occasion, Al Faisal Holding Board Member Sheikh Khaled bin Faisal Al Thani said, “I am pleased to announce our partnershi­p with Doludizgin, which will result in the addition of a new and innovative business to the diverse range of services we offer at Al Faisal Holding. This partnershi­p will allow us to enter a new sector by adopting the latest innovative technologi­es used in the media industry, an area of growing importance. We are pleased to be one of the contributo­rs to the developmen­t of this industry locally through and the establishm­ent of Metaserra is in line with this strategy.”

Talking to Qatar Tribune on the sidelines of the event, Sheikh Khaled said, “Qatar’s economy is growing and so is the media sector which is booming. The upcoming FIFA World Cup will further give a boost to this particular sector. We have seen the phenomenal growth of media in the last 10 years. Ten years ago, social media was just the beginning, but now it’s everything. If you want to stay relevant, you need some sort of media to stay relevant. Media right now is a booming market and it is something that we wanted to get into as Al Faisal Holding and something that suits us as a future venture. Media currently, I think is very crucial for survival and it has a very bright future.”

As a company, he said, “We will take up different jobs related to media. We are looking for a diverse client base. Our aim is to become one of the key media players in the market.”

While we will have profession­als from across the world, he said, “Qatar is also full of young individual talents and we would want such local profession­als to work with us.”

About his vision for the company’s expansion in the next five years, he said, “Al Faisal Holding is a global company. While we will have a major presence in Qatar, we will look to expand around the world.”

As part of the company, he said, “We will have a big production facility here in Doha. We hope to be a major player locally, regionally and globally as far as media production works are concerned. We are starting with a small team, but gradually we will increase the number of our team members.”

Talking to Qatar Tribune on the sidelines of the event, Demir said, “We have more than 20 years of experience in the Turkish market. We want to bring all our expertise in media production here in Qatar to create new content and new projects. Soon we will be working on some of the major projects related to Qatar’s 20 0 vision. We have expertise in the metaverse and we have some special projects for Qatar in the metaverse. We are also in talks to work on some of the important projects related to the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup.”

About the company’s prospectiv­e clients, he said, “We have several directions. Of course, we have a commercial section for the private sector for highlevel commercial­s they want to produce here. We will also do some special projects for the government sector. We also have unique expertise in constructi­on filmmaking, documentar­ies and public awareness films as we have done for Hamad Port. We will do these projects in multiple languages.”
