Indian socio-cultural community celebrates ‘Sanskriti Sports Day 2022’
SANSKRITI, a leading Indian socio-cultural organisation in Qatar, celebrated Sanskriti Sports Day 2022’ recently with an array of activities. The week-long events, led by the organisation’s Sports Committee, concluded on the afternoon of May 6 with exciting sports competitions at the Ideal Indian School.
Football and cricket tournaments, tug-of-war, and other individual sports competitions were held as part of the Sports Day with the participation of various units of Sanskriti.
A colourful poster march at the Ideal Indian School grounds in Abu Hamour had spectacular depictions of Indian culture along with the traditional events of Kerala along with placards in solidarity with the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Mansoura unit of Sanskriti won the football tournament, while the Mesaieed unit won the cricket match and the Abu Hamour unit won the men’s and women’s tug-ofwar. The Mansoura unit was declared the overall champions.
Sanskriti office bearers, Central Committee members and Culture Sports Committee members led the programme in which hundreds of community members, including women and children, took part.
Primary health care was facilitated by Imara Medical Centre and Naseem Al Rabeeh Medical Centre.
Former Qatar volleyball team captain Mubarak Eid was the chief guest at the event, which was inaugurated by Indian Sports Center Vice President Sheji Valiyakat.
AK Jaleel, general secretary of Sanskriti, EM Sudhir and ICBF General Secretary Sabit aheer spoke at the event. Sports Committee Convener Sreejith Padmajan welcomed the gathering while Saltas Samuel, acting secretary, Culture and Sports Committee, delivered the vote of thanks.
Cultural leaders presented trophies and medals to the winners at the closing ceremony in the evening. Former president Pramod Chandran congratulated the winners of various sports competitions.
