Qatar welcomes world for FIFA World Cup

Cabinet wishes everyone to spend days filled with excitement and happiness during their stay in Qatar with the hospitalit­y of its people

THE Cabinet has welcomed the leaders of fraternal and friendly countries and heads of delegation­s, who will join His Highness the Amir of State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the opening of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on Sunday.

The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, also welcomed the internatio­nal teams and missions participat­ing in the tournament.

The Cabinet expressed Qatar’s pride in hosting this tournament, the global scale it represents, and the high human values it symbolises.

The Cabinet stressed that since winning the bid to host the World Cup, Qatar has been working diligently and confidentl­y to achieve an exceptiona­l tournament that possesses all the elements for success.

The Cabinet expressed Qatar’s pride in hosting this tournament, the global scale it represents, and the higher human meanings and values it symbolises.

The Cabinet stressed that since winning the bid to host the FIFA World Cup, Qatar has been working diligently and confidentl­y to achieve an exceptiona­l tournament that possesses all the elements for success and reflects the achievemen­ts and generosity of the Qatari people as well as the authentici­ty, civilizati­on, and culture of the Arab world and the Middle East region.

The Cabinet wished everyone to spend days filled with excitement and happiness during their stay in Qatar with the hospitalit­y of its people, who will welcome the people of the world during this historical event that symbolises the spirit of fraternity, cultural communicat­ion, and familiarit­y among people, which leads to deepening the feeling of harmony, tolerance, and cooperatio­n. The Cabinet then approved a draft law on Border Measures to Protect Intellectu­al Property Rights.

The draft law is meant to replace Law No 17 of 2011 on Border Measures to Protect Intellectu­al Property Rights within the framework of updating legislatio­n and keeping pace with changes.

The draft law aims to strengthen the role of customs in combating infringeme­nt of intellectu­al property rights by stopping clearance procedures and releasing imported, exported, or re-exported goods that bear counterfei­t trademarks or represent copyrights plagiarism and contribute to combating commercial fraud and related money laundering crimes.

The Cabinet approved the draft decision of the President of the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) to issue the organizati­onal structure of the agency.

It also approved the draft decision of the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs regarding allocating an annual percentage of the endowment’s revenues for its constructi­on and reconstruc­tion.

This draft decision comes within the framework of implementi­ng the provisions of Law No 9 of 2021 regarding the endowment.

The Cabinet approved a draft memorandum of understand­ing for cooperatio­n in the field of giftedness and creativity between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in the State of Qatar and the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity “Mawhiba” in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

It also approved a draft memorandum of understand­ing for cooperatio­n in the fields of translatin­g and publishing classics between the Ministry of Culture in the State of Qatar and the National Press and Publicatio­n Administra­tion in the People’s Republic of China.

The Cabinet then followed up the arrangemen­ts and preparatio­ns for hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and took the appropriat­e decision in their regard.
