THE Tunisian Chargé d’affaires to Qatar, HE Nehrou Elarabi, has said that Qatar has made great strides in a few years to host a unique FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

“The State of Qatar has made great achievements in a few years since it was awarded the right to organize to FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022,” the Tunisian envoy told Qatar Tribune.

The Tunisian envoy appreciated Qatar’s great role in organising the first Arab World Cup and said. He said Qatar is moving steadily from success to success and the World Cup will not be its last success. “It has worked on these big preparations, we expect a lot from Qatar,” he added.

The Chargé d’affaires expressed his great appreciation to the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, which supervised the organisation of this edition and did a job that major countries could not do.

He shed light on the stadiums on which the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be held, saying that they are characterised by their imitation of Arab and Qatari culture, while relying on advanced technology, to form a unique image in terms of design and construction as a whole.

He also pointed out that these stadiums took into account the legacy that they will leave; and that their role will not stop with the end of the World Cup, but will be used for various purposes to serve the local and foreign community.

The anvoy expressed his pride in Qatar’s giant achievements, saying that “Since Qatar won the right to host the most important and largest football tournament, the concerned authorities have rushed to complete stadiums and training grounds, provide transportation and accommodation, and implement infrastructure projects and services at an accelerated pace that exceeded schedules despite the difficult conditions caused by the COVID-19.

He also spoke about the organisational aspect that formed the approach of the State of Qatar in organising various events that served as an opportunity to test the readiness of operational processes and dedicated facilities at all levels, such as receiving fans, selling tickets, transportation, security and health protocol.

The Tunisian Chargé d’affaires also lauded the organization strategies and cultural activities.

“The eyes of the world and football fans will be directed towards the State of Qatar during this tournament, which is being held for the first time in the Arab world and the Middle East region, and this is a source of pride for everyone.

This tournament is a cup for all Arabs,” he added.

Regarding the Tunisian participation in this edition, he pointed out that the qualification of his country’s national team came after reaching six previous World Cup tournaments, reflecting the outstanding level of Tunisian football, which is currently going through its best periods, in parallel with the great results achieved by the Tunisian national teams or national clubs at the African and Arab level, as well as international players in the ranks of the national team.

He wished the Tunisian national team and the Arab national teams’ success and going to the furthest possible stage in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, although the draw put them in a strong group that includes national teams of France, Denmark and Australia. “We will be among our own people, among our own family in Qatar. Not only is there a sizeable Tunisian community in Qatar already, but many fans will come for the tournament to cheer on the Tunisian national team, while also supporting all Arab teams and celebrating this momentous achievement by Qatar,” said Nehrou Elarabi.

He added that the Tunisian national team, which includes professional players who participated in the strongest European leagues, has ample chances to reach an advanced stage in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, calling on the Tunisian and Arab public as a whole to support and encourage the “Eagles of Carthage” in its own way and its own distinctive slogans that motivate players.

He called on all fans to respect the measures and procedures taken by the authorities in Qatar, so that these matches constitute a great sports event in every sense of the word.

The envoy added that his country wishes Qatar good and success in hosting the World Cup, which will be held from November 20 to December 18.

He reiterated that the World Cup will have the greatest positive impact on Qatar in various fields and it will also have an impact on Tunisia economically and culturally.

He said the leadership of Qatar and its officials have the right to be proud of the legacy of the World Cup, which will be implemented in a transformed society, a dynamic economy, and infrastructure that will serve the future generations. The envoy said he is looking forward to witnessing a “wonderful football event”.

We will be among our own people, among our own family in Qatar. Not only is there a sizeable Tunisian community in Qatar already, but many fans will come for the tournament to cheer on the Tunisian national team, while also supporting all Arab teams and celebrating this momentous achievement by Qatar.” — HE Nehrou Elarabi
