Al Subaie inspects new cleaning vehicles ahead of World Cup Qatar 2022
MINISTER of Municipality HE Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie inspected on Wednesday the new vehicles and cleaning machinery that joined the ministry’s fleet as part of the preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
During the inspection tour, the minister was briefed on the readiness of the General Services Affairs Sector to perform the required tasks in the field of hygiene as well as collecting, sorting and recycling waste, which contribute to achieving the goals of the State of Qatar to organise an environment-friendly tournament.
The minister also inspected the transfer stations at South Doha, which was designated for waste generated from the World Cup activities. It has a capacity of about 1,300 tonnes per day, and is equipped with a primary sorting system for recyclable materials and directing them to recycling plants.
The inspection tour included a visit to the mobile station in Al-Thumama area, which is designated for waste from the World Cup stadium 974, and Al Subaie was briefed on the workflow of the station to which the waste is transported, compacted and then shifted to the Waste Treatment Center in Mesaieed.
The Ministry of Municipality has recently strengthened the cleaning fleet with 110 new vehicles and machineries equipped with the latest multi-use technologies for cleaning streets, roads and public squares, as well as for waste collection and lifting, automatic sweeping, container washing and spraying and sterilization.
