Very bad idea to politicise sport: French president

FRENCH President Emmanuel Macron has called for non-politicization of sports, stating that such behaviour is a “very bad idea.”

He added it was “a very bad idea to politicize sport”, while noting that Paris will host the Olympic Games in 2024. The French president made the remarks to reporters upon his arrival in Bangkok to participate in the summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). The French national team, defending its title, will participate in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which will start next Sunday until December 18.
