AFC president slams malicious campaigns against Qatar 2022

THE President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa has expressed his disapproval of the unjust campaigns against the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

This came in response to journalists’ questions in Doha about the smear campaigns that Qatar has been subjected to since it won the bid to host the World Cup tournament.

Concerning the historic victory of the Saudi team over Argentina, the AFC President said that what the Saudi team presented against Argentina is an honorable thing. The Saudi team sprang a beautiful surprise, and we want to see the team in the round of 16.

The AFC president stressed that Asian football is strong, referring in a related context to the victory of the Japanese team against the German team. The Saudis achieved the first surprise of the tournament by defeating Argentina 2-1, at Lusail Stadium, in the first round of the group stage in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
