Fans from all over the world flock to Katara

Thousands attend cultural shows, exhibition­s, events and dhow festival

FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 fans and internatio­nal visitors are continuing to enjoy amazing evenings at the Katara Cultural Village, which has lined up several activities with distinguis­hed artistic and technical organisati­on.

Katara is witnessing daily an in ux of thousands of World Cup fans and guests from different countries who visit the Cultural Village from early morning until in the night to experience a wonderful atmosphere, exceptiona­l evenings and unique nights of thrill and excitement.

Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim AlSulaiti, director general of the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, has inaugurate­d a number of exhibition­s within the Katara activities accompanyi­ng the Qatar World Cup 2022, including the Katara Internatio­nal Ceramics Exhibition, the Stamp Museum exhibition.

The Katara Internatio­nal Ceramics Exhibition in Building 1 has the participat­ion of

2 artists from 12 countries and 1 artworks.

A big draw with internatio­nal visitors is the World Cup Postage Stamps Exhibition at the Postal Stamp Museum headquarte­rs in Building 22. The exhibition contains more than 0 stamp plates each plate contains five stamps on average from all over the world, including 2 0 plates that include all World Cup championsh­ips since the first tournament held in 19 0 until now. The exhibition also includes a distinguis­hed and rare collection of World Cup collectibl­es and various memorabili­a displayed for the first time with the participat­ion of amateurs. The amateurs include Qatari amateur Dr. Khaled Al-Meir, American amateur Ken Gilbert,

Brazilian Paulo Duke, and Italian Matthew Melodia, each with their rare collection­s. Among the collectibl­es related to the World Cup from its inception in 19 0 until the seventies of the last century is the official medal for the World Cup’s first edition, in addition to souvenirs of silver and gold coins, prints and clothing.

The exhibition of plastic art, football and collectibl­es will be held throughout three halls in Building 1 . It includes pictures of players from Arab teams: Dr. Khaled El-Mir, Captain Pilot Ismail El-Meir, and Eng. Mohamed Youssef Lari.

Cultural events, folkloric shows, cultural and sports exhibition­s have attracted large numbers of visitors, both citizens and residents, as well as World Cup fans from various Arab and foreign nationalit­ies, who came to the Cultural Village to get acquainted with its facilities, discover landmarks, and enjoy its various cultural, heritage and artistic activities and performanc­es. These objects and activities that introduce them to new worlds of knowledge, entertainm­ent and discovery, as well as Qatari, Arab and Islamic culture and heritage.

Meanwhile, the 12th edition of the Katara Traditiona­l Dhow Festival, which continues until December 1 , witnessed an increased turnout. Visitors enjoyed its activities and various pavilions from nine participat­ing nations showcasing maritime history and associated culture in addition to folk arts that present the heritage of marine singing and paintings rich in heritage.

The illuminate­d fountain at Al-Hikma Square at Katara is also a big attraction where shows are presented combining music and dancing water with the re ection of psychedeli­c lights with their cheerful colours and charming shapes reecting on the buildings of the surroundin­g cultural district.
