Karwa buses ferry more than 940,000 people in six days

KARWA, Qatar’s official transport service provider, has recorded a significan­t growth in its operations during the first six days of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. With an increase in the number of users of its multiple sized buses, Karwa transporte­d approximat­ely 940,513 passengers, during the period November 20 to 25. The increase reflects the success of the company’s operationa­l plans and its advanced preparatio­ns for the World Cup, as well as its ability to ensure smooth and easy mobility of the internatio­nal football fans, citizens, residents and others between various destinatio­ns throughout nationwide stations network.

MOWASALAT Company ‘Karwa’, the official provider of transport services in the State of Qatar, recorded a significan­t growth in its operations during the first six days of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as it witnessed an increase in the number of users of its buses of various sizes, transporti­ng approximat­ely 940,513 passengers, during the period from November 20 to 25.

The increase reflects the success of the company’s operationa­l plans and its advance preparatio­ns for the World Cup, in addition to its ability to ensure smooth and easy movement of football fans, citizens, residents and others to various destinatio­ns and the general network of its stations, which are spread throughout the country.

This increase also reflects the effectiven­ess and success of radical solutions in solving the challenges of public transport, by providing a sustainabl­e way for individual­s, that contribute­s to accelerati­ng the pace of comprehens­ive developmen­t, at various levels, given that transporta­tion is a basic requiremen­t and a major support for the national economy.

Passenger traffic via Karwa buses has grown significan­tly, supported by the volume of visitors and the public flocking to the Qatari capital, Doha, to follow the competitio­ns of the first World Cup to be held in the Arab world, and the accompanyi­ng events, as the various stations witnessed a turnout by users, accompanie­d by an increasing demand for bus services.

The daily statistics confirm the company’s success in operating its bus fleet and doubling its capacity, by increasing the number of working hours, to be around the clock, and supporting maintenanc­e teams with additional cadres, to provide a quick response when necessary, as well as conducting this maintenanc­e on time, in order to ensure that the safety and readiness of buses, ensuring the regularity and reliabilit­y of service throughout the championsh­ip period, with the same efficiency.

Karwa reported that about 118,805 passengers were transporte­d on the opening day of the tournament, on November 20, via 2,787 buses, to all destinatio­ns and stations, while the total number of users jumped, on Monday, November 21, to about 123,906 passengers., they were transporte­d by 2,354 buses.

The number of users continued to rise, recording a remarkable growth, on Tuesday, November 22, to reach 145,914 passengers, through 2,621 buses, to return and then record a new number, on Wednesday, November 23, by transporti­ng approximat­ely 181,210 passengers, on board via 2,841 buses.

On Thursday, November 24, the company registered 177,883 users, who were transporte­d by 3,397 buses. The company was not satisfied with this limit, as it achieved another quantum leap, unpreceden­ted in terms of its daily operations, after it broke a new record, with the number of passengers who were estimated on Friday, November 25, at about 192,795 passengers, who were transporte­d by 3,227 buses.

The company invites the World Cup fans to take advantage of the rapid transit bus service for the stadiums, located in the main championsh­ip bus centres, in addition to preplannin­g the trip, with the need to leave enough time for transporta­tion.

Karwa’s operations are run continuous­ly daily at the highest levels of efficiency, as all its buses are subject to round-the-clock maintenanc­e, to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers, and to secure their transporta­tion to various destinatio­ns and fan areas.

Karwa’s fleet includes taxis, limousines, mass transit buses, and buses. The company has recently introduced buses that run on compressed natural gas, in order to benefit from its national resources.
