WC 2022 to be fondly remembered for promoting Arab heritage

TWELVE years ago, organising the World Cup in Qatar was a dream, but today, it has become a reality. Qatar has prioritise­d three main files in its journey to preparing for the World Cup - stadiums, heritage and sustainabi­lity - to organise an exceptiona­l tournament at the highest levels.

Away from the exciting competitio­ns and sensationa­l matches of the World Cup, a question appears on the horizon - how does Qatar look like during this global event at a time when the attention of the whole world has turned towards it.

It is evident that Doha and all Qatari cities have embraced the World Cup ambiance and welcomed fans from all over the world. Qatari cities have turned into major arenas of all that is related to the World Cup 2022 and have become a stage for all its activities and celebratio­ns.

A cross section of football followers and profession­als have stressed that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be fondly remembered as a catalyst to promote Arab heritage.

On the streets of Qatar, you will find the most famous YouTube content makers, ‘YouTubers’, walking around with their cameras and monitoring every big and small thing to convey to their millions of followers.

One of the YouTubers, Rodrigo from Argentina, who’s visiting Qatar for the first time and on a mission to capture as much contents as possible and share them with the world, praised the work and dedication he had seen in Qatar during the World Cup.

He said, “This is my first time visiting Doha but from I’ve done my research and I can say that it has turned into an exceptiona­l city. I’ve never expected Qatar to be so beautiful. Qataris have definitely achieved an unpreceden­ted success in the history of football with the preparatio­ns it provided to the world during hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.”

Rodrigo added that Qatar, with its distinctiv­e imprint, will leave a cultural and human legacy for the Arabs and the world, stressing that hosting such a successful internatio­nal event will place Qatar and the region at the forefront of global attention from now on.

Mubarak Mustafa, a former Qatar national team player and former player of Al Arabi club, said: “We have shown the world what football means to us Qataris and we have introduced Qatar’s football history to the world.”

Mustafa also expressed pride to see Qatar’s football achievemen­ts and to witness his country not only taking part in the World Cup but hosting and organising the biggest sport event in the world. “What we are witnessing today is a dream coming true,” he said.

Mustafa also confirmed that the arrangemen­ts made by Qatar to organise the first World Cup in the Arab region reflect an unpreceden­ted achievemen­t in the history of football tournament­s. Mustafa, who has rich and long sports experience, said that Qatar is experienci­ng a football celebratio­n that is the most expensive in the world and perfection is what proudly makes Qatar 2022 the most expensive and most exquisite World Cup in the world.

Responding to a question about their assessment of the atmosphere of World Cup 2022, a group of Tunisian fans spotted at the crowded Souq Waqif stressed the exceptiona­l importance of the Qatar World Cup 2022, saying that it constitute­s a memorable moment in the history of the World Cup tournament­s, for the first time in the history of the Arab and Islamic region.

“This is the most popular tournament in the world, and for the first time in its history, the whole world will learn about the heritage and culture of the Arabs, values of tolerance, peace and security,” one of them said.
