- QNA DOHA

THE Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC) is participating in this year’s Darb Al Saai activities with a distinguished pavilion as part of celebrations of the Qatar National Day under the slogan ‘Our Unity Source of Our Strength’.

The ministry’s events during the whole period of the celebrations will run until Sunday, December 18, 2022.

The MECC’s participation in Darb Al Saai comes under the event ‘Nurseries’, where MECC’s pavilion includes four sections of wildlife nurseries that contain wild trees and plants, while other sections contain Arabian oryx, gazelles, ostriches, houbara bustards, rabbits and wild reptiles.

Display screens were allocated to showcase MECC’s efforts in conserving the Qatari environment and developing the wildlife, and for the first time, MECC is participating in Darb Al Saai with distinguished events in cooperation with Qatar Scientific Club with an initiative to reuse the plastic materials through providing an electric scooter that collects plastic bottles from the public to be further utilised in the recycling process.

Commenting on the occasion, Director of the Public Relations Department at MECC Farhoud Hadi Al Hajri said that what distinguishes the participation in Darb Al Saai this year, is that it coincides with Qatar’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, adding that MECC seeks to introduce the public to its role and its efforts in organising a sustainable environmental tournament through the ecofriendly sporting facilities during this event.

He called on the public to visit the ministry’s pavilion in Darb Al Saai and have a glimpse of the most prominent tourist and environmental landmarks in Qatar, including the distinguished biodiversity the country enjoys.

He confirmed that MECC’s pavilion offers several competitions and recreational sections to the public throughout the entire period of the celebrations, in addition to organising daily awareness and cultural workshops.
