Qatar elected as member of Executive Council of OPCW

QATAR has been elected for the membership of the Executive Council of the Organizati­on of the Prohibitio­n of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) during the 27th session of the Conference of the States Parties currently being convened in The Hague.

The election reflects the confidence of the internatio­nal community and with the internatio­nal organisati­ons in the constructi­ve role undertaken by Qatar in dischargin­g the functions of The Hague-based organisati­on.

The executive council, which is composed of 41 members, undertakes and executes the decisions and supervises the activities of the technical secretaria­t of the organisati­on, as well as its responsibi­lity for strengthen­ing the effective implementa­tion of OPCW and compliance.
