QATAR has fulfilled all its obligations towards organising an exceptional FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which is being held for the first time in the region, a top Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) official has said.

Khalid Al Mawlawi, Deputy Director General, Marketing, Communications & Event Experience at SC, said Qatar managed to achieve records since the kick-off of the tournament.

In an exclusive interview with QNA, Al Mawlawi said that football fans worldwide were able to live a unique experience during the tournament, the most outstanding in the FIFA history.

He added that the World Cup-associated activities enabled fans to live a flexible and easy experience in all its aspects.

He highlighted that the activities ranging from cultural to entertainment to societal, saw great public participation and community interaction.

Al Mawlawi noted that the tournament achieved recordbreaking ticket purchase and fan attendance, adding the championship offered an exceptional experience in the life of fans watching it from inside Qatar or around the world through television screens.

Qatar faced many challenges before and during the tournament, but it succeeded in organizing a historic event on behalf of the entire Arab

world, and sent a message through to the whole world that Qatar has proven that the Arab world deserves to host this great event, Al Mawlawi said.

He added that the tournament-linked entertainment events are held in many regions nationwide and renewed daily, adding they always offer surprises to the fans who enjoy the atmosphere of the tournament in Qatar.

The tournament is proceeding according to what was planned and announced in terms of organizational procedures, since Qatar won the World Cup bid 12 years ago, as great work has been done in all aspects related to hosting this event for the first time with no obstacles, Al Mawlawi said.

Al Mawlawi stressed the legacy and sustainability after the championship, including the stadiums that can be dismantled, to serve the entire region.

Amid pressures and criticism, the Organizing Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 focused on accomplishing the main task - to organize the best tournament in FIFA history, he added.

The World Cup broke all viewership records through the best and most modernized television broadcasting in the tournament history.

Qatar faced many challenges before and during the tournament, but it succeeded in organising a historic event on behalf of the entire Arab world, and sent a message through to the whole world that Qatar has proven that the Arab world deserves to host this great event.”
