We want to leave World Cup with heads held high, says Almoez Ali

QATAR’S national team forward Almoez Ali said his side would seek an honourable showing in their last World Cup group stage game against the Netherland­s, scheduled to be held on Tuesday, to leave the tournament with their heads held high. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Ali voiced hopes for a better performanc­e against the Netherland­s to bring fans joy and pride. He regretted Al Annabi’s inability to advance to the knockouts. In response to a question by Qatar News Agency (QNA), Ali voiced hopes to net in the World Cup as he did in the Asian Cup, the Copa America 2019, the Gold Cup 2021 and in the European qualifiers, elaboratin­g that his main objective would always be to help the na- tional team in the last match to leave the World Cup in the best way possible. It was Qatar’s first World Cup appearance, but it will not be the last, he said.
