OPEN screenings of FIFA World Cup 2022 matches and other entertainment activities offered by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs at Industrial Area Fan Zone have been attracting large numbers of football fans, including blue-collar workers, to the area.

Thousands of workers gather at the zone to watch the matches on a big screen every day as Hayya Card in not needed for entry.

Free WiFi, cultural shows by popular artistes from different Asian countries, free medical checkup and eateries makes the location attractive for visitors. Besides, the authorities have offered attractive gifts to the visitors through lucky draws.

Most of the visitors come to the area to watch the matches straight from work-sites, while some lucky ones could skip the work with the permission of their employers to enjoy the football vibe.

A migrant worker from Nepal told Qatar Tribune: “Qatar has made all arrangements to watch the World Cup matches on big screens. The vibe created by the authorities will attract large numbers of workers to sports and motivate them to follow a healthy living.”

An Indian social worker said, “Qatar is very concerned about the welfare of its workers who were involved in many FIFA World Cup projects. The event provides the workers with the thrill of football, while also helping them learn about the cultures of other countries through watching the cultural programmers that are staged almost every day.”

The food stalls at the zone serve varied dishes popular in different Asian countries. The organisers publicise the details of the activities at the zone everyday through WhatsApp.
