France to rotate team in final group game with last-16 berth assured

FRANCE coach Didier Deschamps is set to rotate his squad in the last group match against Tunisia on Wednesday after already securing qualification for the last 16.

The defending champions were the first team in Qatar to seal a spot in the first knock-out round after Saturday’s 2-1 win over Denmark.

“There is still a third game. We have to respect the competition, the opponent we meet and also our other opponents for whom qualification is at stake,” Deschamps told reporters. “But I will not take any risks with a view to the last 16. But don’t ask me who or how many players will get a break.” France have been ravaged by injuries, both before and during the tournament.
