Communities can benefit greatly from reading. Reading increases knowledge and with the increase in knowledge comes an increase in tolerance and creates a better community. In addition to this, researchers at Yale University ran a study, asking 3,635 participants over 50 years-old about their reading habits. Over the course of the study, the researchers consistently found that the groups of readers lived longer than the non-readers.

“This finding suggests that reading books provide a survival advantage due to the immersive nature that helps maintain cognitive status,” authors of study said.

Give 8: Raise funds for your local cancer research (in whatever currency, so for example in Qatar, you would give 8 Qatari Riyals, in the UK you would be encouraged to donate 8 pounds to your local cancer charity, for India 8 rupees, for the Philippines 8 pesos, for Greece 8 Euros etc.) The purpose of this is that each person helps their local cancer charity. There is no one collecting funds or no website to send funds to. It is geared towards each community.

Modul8: To modulate means to exert a modifying or controlling influence on, to regulate, to harmonize.

Yevgeny Zamyatin once said, “A man is like a novel: until the very last page you don’t know how it will end. Otherwise it wouldn’t be worth reading.”
