Finance Manager in a private firm
Ihave been living in Qatar for the past ten years. And I have been fasting for six consecutive years now. I am always interested to know about different religions and about different cultures. In my religion also we observe fasting from dawn to dusk once or twice in a month. It is called Pradosh. I find fasting in Ramadan similar to Pradosh. I used to be a kind of person who cannot resist hunger so when I saw my Muslim friends fasting, I got inspired.
Fasting is like a challenge for me. If I am hungry, I feel dizzy, headache and missing just one time’s meal is a tough task for me. But when I started fasting in Ramadan, I become more self-controlled and now I can control my hunger. I came to know that in the month of Ramadan people follow good ethics, morals and values so I also wanted to adapt healthy lifestyle and experience purity of soul and body. I was not familiar with Muslim culture but when I came to Qatar I got a chance to learn more about Islam, its culture and traditions. I started reading Holy Quran. Consequently, my attitude towards life
got a drastic change. I am inspired by five-times compulsory prayer and their religious etiquettes. I am a strong believer in God, so I follow and implement all positive thoughts, actions and positive attitude in my life for inner happiness and to make others happy and satisfied.
In Holy Quran it is mentioned that “Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may learn self-restraint.” In Ramadan, we learn how to control our hunger, keep ourselves calm, being spiritual and try to adopt healthy lifestyle. I read holy books from my religion and also refer holy books from Islam.
I find fasting a fantastic tool to experience spirituality, positivity and to give up bad thoughts and experience positive things to the maximum level. I’m eagerly waiting to fast this Ramadan too and remove all negative energy from my life. My suggestions for this Ramadan is eat a little and less oily food, drink more and more water.
