I’m a Christian and I have been in Qatar since my childhood. I have been fasting for four years in a row. First year I found it tough but thanks to my childhood friends, gradually I got used to it as they helped me out a lot. Believe me it’s an amazing feeling. It’s an easy way to lose a lot of excess weight and it’s really good for your body.
I started fasting or trying to fast, which would be a better way to say, from the summer of 2013. The first year was extremely hard as it was in the peak summer days. I stopped fasting after a few days. Then I switched on to drinking water during the fasting period. But my friends helped me a lot and I tried reading articles about fasting and got to know how it’s good for the body.
I have been fasting the right way for the past two years and it has helped me a lot. Fasting helps in many ways, the entire metabolism changes and gives us more energy and we tend to focus on things much more than before. It’s just hard on the very first day. Once you are on it, the rest of the days are just a piece of cake.
I decided to fast mainly to reduce my excess weight. It didn’t help me at the beginning as I didn’t fast in the right way and I used to overeat because of the delicious food that Ramadan offers. But last two years, yes it has helped me a lot, by eating healthy and by working out.
I’m so excited for this Ramadan and I’m really looking forward to it. Hope to have a much healthier way of eating and inspire people to lead a good life.
