THE MAN WITH THE TOUCH

The Star (St. Lucia) - Life Begins 2 Nite - - CONTENTS -

Relax, realign and rejuvenate.” These were Julian’s opening words to us when we visited his Spa over the weekend. And let’s just say… This guy has the touch! This massage therapist knows exactly what to do and how to do it. Constantly seeking to improve his skill set, whilst bring innovative methods to a century old practice. We reluctantly got off the table, to have a one on one with Julian Toussaint to learn more about his trade.

2Nite: Why did you enter the field of Massage Therapy?

Julian: As a child I would rub my grandmother’s back and she would always comment on how good it was. Even as an adult at my previous job I would offer free massages to my colleagues, and they will always rave about how “good my hands were.” So when I reached a crossroad to switch jobs, I decided to become a massage therapist as a career and not just a job. What can I say, I love to help people and I can massage all day!

2Nite: Of all your massage techniques name your favourite

Julian: I love sports massage. A top sports massage therapist in the United States trained me and my techniques are not readily offered in Saint Lucia. This technique is also a cross between deep tissue and stretches, which involves a lot of pressure.

2Nite: What makes your service unique?

Julian: The fact that I am heavily invested in this and it is what I love to do. Also my training has allowed me to offer techniques that are not offered in Saint Lucia. I also offer a service that is pretty innovative. It is called the “Chair Massage”. Basically, I work along with large-scale companies and come to their business to provide 15 minutes chair massages to their staff to help relieve stress. I am mobile, so I come wherever you are.

2Nite: Are you into any other practices?

Julian: Yes, I am also a Colon Hydrotherapist. I was introduced to this area about three years ago from a Doctor in Venezuela. Since there is a raise in colon cancer and colon related medical issues here in Saint Lucia, I felt it was important for me to get involved in this area. I may not consider my self a doctor, however I am a health practitioner and my services offer just that.

2Nite: Any plans to expand?

Julian: Yes, but I do not have a time line as yet. I would definitely want to open a clinic dedicated to both specialties I practice and cryotherapy as well.
