The Star (St. Lucia) - - LOCAL -

The National Workers Union (NWU) has written to Senator the Honourable Mary Isaac, Minister of Health and Wellness to request a lump sum payment for St. Jude Hospital workers.

The letter dated November 26, 2018 pointed out that negotiations between St. Jude Hospital and the NWU have not yet begun and that the health workers are at the same stage with government daily paid non-established workers employed with government, and that St. Jude workers are making tremendous sacrifices under poor working conditions in an attempt to continue contributing a high quality of health service at the institution.

The NWU has requested that a $1,000 lump sum payment should also be given to the St. Jude Hospital workers as a token of appreciation and in keeping with what government will do before Christmas for the other group of workers.
