Hyderabad Green, MHA score easy victories

JEDDAH: Hyderabad Green got the better of Butt Sports Club by four wickets in a quarterfin­al match of the Second Division Cricket Tournament sponsored by Sipca and organized by the Jeddah Cricket Associatio­n.

In the

other

quarterfin­al, Mohammad Harasani Architects (MHA) routed favorites Dessert Warriors by 47 runs.

Butt Sports batting first managed 169 runs. Tariq Siddiqui was the top scorer with 57 runs (4x4), 6x2). He was ably supported by Zia who got 45 runs (4x2), 6x2). Junaid (24) and Waqar (17) later propped up the innings.

Abdullah Owais was the most successful bowler as he took 4 for 23 while Rayees gave him good support for his 2 for 34.

In reply, Hyderabad reached their target losing six wickets for 170 runs. Thanks to a match-winning unbeaten 57 runs by Ashfaque. Other notable contributi­ons came from, Jaffar (41) and Anwar Ahmed Khan (33). Tariq Siddiqui got 2 for 40 for Butt Sports.

In the other quarterfin­al, MHA did well to put up 220 runs after making first use of the wicket. Skipper Shad Mohammad showed the way with a well-made 43 runs (4x6). However, it was Abdul Wahid who stood tall and top-scored with 54 runs. Later, Sami (40) and Ismail (30) accelerate­d the score for the Architects. Abdul Quddus bagged 3 for 35. In reply Desert Warriors were bowled out for 173. Abdul Quddus scored a quick-fire 52 runs (4x7). Masiuallah (27), Raziuddin (30) and Syed Aleemuddin (24) were the other run getters.

Zakir and Sami shared four wickets for MHA.

In the first match for the Consolatio­n Cup, Saliheen beat Jeddah challenger­s by 142 runs. Saliheen batting first scored 234 runs. Amjad Siddiqui scored 76 runs off just 32 balls (4x9 6x4). Asim (40), Amjad junior (34) and (39) did their best. Fahad took 2 for 40. In reply the Jeddah Challenger­s slumped to 92 all out. Abdul Rauf bagged 3 for 4. Babar 2 for 41 and Abid 2 for 14 did most of the damage.

In the second match of Consolatio­n Cup, KAIA struggled to beat ACC by 16 runs. KAIA batting first scored a respectabl­e 216 for 3. Imtiaz hit a magnificen­t unbeaten 138 (4x11, 6x7) off only 62 balls. Shahzad (31) and Majid (22) were
