F Team strikes early in FTBJ-ICBL 29th Conference

JEDDAH: It didn’t take long for league newcomer F Team to make an impression as it clinched Team of the Week honors during the third session in the FTBJ-ICBL 29th Conference at the Jeddah Lanes in Mossadia Plaza here.

F Team, which along with Lance & 3rdy made the jump to the Friday big league, hit the top tally of 47 points during another spirited chase for team and individual accolades.

Safawa Tech-build pooled 44 points in second place on the day but the numbers were enough for Safawa to pass Lynda & Co. now carrying the colors of clothing company Muchkilla and Almarai Company on the way to first place in the team standings of the 14-team competitio­n.

Back-to-back Team of the Week Muchkilla suffered a drop in form to finish next to last on 15 points and only two points shy of cellar dweller Geely Cars (13 points), while Almarai was among those on the top half of the field at the end of the session with 32 points.

Kulisap ni Moe became the third team to cross 40 points on 43 with Nasser Al-hajri on 35 followed by Saudi Diyar Consultant­s 34.5 and Sky Freight-tfc 32.5.

Lance & 3rdy tallied 28.5 points in eighth place with D’ Barkads Reloaded a full point behind 27.5 and Faris Bowling on 26 points. Symmetry-genesis and Hidada Contractin­g had 23 and 19 points, respective­ly.

The week’s top individual performers each bestowed the title Bowler of the Week were Safawa’s Zaldy Bacero on the men’s division and Reloaded’s Susan Patayan on the distaff side. Bacero rolled the high series of 671 on lines of 167, 279 and 225 while Patayan shot the top score of 650 (190, 208,192) in her division. Fatima Jintarat of Saudi Diyar Consultant­s was the ladies Bowler of the Week for two consecutiv­e weeks, carding 618 and 615 while Rey Beltran of Muchkilla and Almarai’s Gerry Tano were the men’s Bowler of the Week during the first and and second weeks after notching the top scores of 689 and 747.

Oca Evangelist­a and May Lourdes were at the vanguard of F Team that never won a single game but which had the consistenc­y that eluded its rivals to claim the weekly award.

Evangelist­a shot a three-game series of 656 (212, 257, 175) and Lourdes returned 618. Fedelyn Bustinero backed up Lourdes from the distaff side with 539, while contributi­ng with two games each were Roger Daquioag 201-193, Gary Raymundo 158-167 and Carlos Bustinera 183-178.

Winner of the second game and overall output, Safawa had Cesar Monares backstoppi­ng Bacero at 665 to go with the 577 by Bheng Cerbito 499 by Gail Mata, 171-211 by Pancho Cuevas and 188 by Danny Pamintuan.

Nonie Yap missed the 600 by 3 pins at Kulisap. Bugsy Alday and Alice Penus contribute­d 592 and 570 from the distaff side. Zaldy Parenas was the third player to do full games at 581, while the rest of the team scoring came from Mao Orolfo 173-223 and Andy Yumea 190.

Nasser Al Hajri used a single set of five player with Jeff San Pedro on 670, Randy Mata 644, Cris villavelez 580, Jeanette Cerbito 534 and Merlen Pamintuan 518.

Fellow lady bowler Thess Grandia complement­ed Patayan’s efforts at Reloaded with 522. Marlon Heredia and Leo Edejer scored 564 and 542 while Jett Santos made 211-171 and Val Magsino 170.

The trio of Oca Bernabe, Goying Salazar and Rene Santiago drilled 592, 566 and 557 for Sky Freight, which also received 531 from Babes Boner, 186-196 from Grace Dasas and 176 from Imelda Sayago.
