ABCE tackles challenges facing beverage industry

Jeddah: Fadia Jiffry JEDDAH: The 2nd edition of the Arab Beverages Conference & Exhibition (ABCE) held with the support of Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-faisal ended yesterday.

The Arab Beverages Associatio­n organized the twoday event in collaborat­ion with the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry ( JCCI) and Arab Federation for Food Industries.

“The Arab Beverages Conference & Exhibition (ABCE) is an important annual event that we co-organize with our partners, in order to contribute to food industries to ensure the safety and health of consumers,” said Haitham Jaffan, president of Arab Federation for Food Industries.

The conference was accompanie­d by a special exhibition, for the sponsoring companies to showcase their products and interact with the gathering.

The main aim of the conference was to discuss the obstacles faced by regional companies working in this field and explore opportunit­ies in the light of latest developmen­ts and technologi­es.

“No one can ignore the current position of the beverage industry in the Arab economies and its role to fit the needs of consumers in the Arab world. This industry provides job opportunit­ies and is linked to packaging, agricultur­al and glass sectors. Our priority is to protect this industry, boost investment­s from within and outside the Arab world, in addition to cooperatin­g with the beverage research centers for the developmen­t of alternativ­e materials,” said Monther T. Al-harthi, chairman of Arab Beverages Associatio­n.

ABCE brought to light main topics relating to the beverages industry in the Arab countries in comparison to the global beverage industry. The conference also stressed on the beverage safety and latest legislativ­e developmen­ts in the beverage sector, advances in beverage packaging, promoting the scientific research and technologi­cal developmen­ts to create new products, Arab exports of beverages, recycling and other various topics relevant to the sector.

“By participat­ing in this event, we wish to contribute in promoting the sectors of education, environmen­t and health affairs of Jeddah society and promote investment opportunit­ies in Jeddah. We are delighted to be the host of the 2nd Arab Beverages Conference & Exhibition in Jeddah,” said Adnan H. Mandoura, JCCI’S secretary general.
